Meet Daniel Marshall, M.A.

I've never been someone who fits neatly into a single box.

Professionally, I've spent over two decades in leadership roles where trust, precision, and accountability mattered. Along the way, I earned graduate degrees in both History and Business Management because I've always believed there is value in understanding not only how things work, but why they matter.

But if I'm being truthful, some of the most meaningful work I've ever done hasn't happened behind a desk.

For as long as I can remember, I've had a deep respect for craftsmanship and for the things built to last. Leather, especially, has always fascinated me. Unlike most modern materials, leather carries a story…a history since the beginning of man. It develops character. It records years of hard work, adventure, and everyday life. A good pair of boots, a trusted belt, or a well-made bag often becomes more valuable with age, not less.

That appreciation eventually led me from simply owning and caring for leather goods to learning the skills required to restore, maintain, and preserve them. Over time, I found myself spending more and more hours at the workbench—cleaning, conditioning, sharpening, repairing, and learning. What began as a personal interest slowly grew into a genuine passion for craftsmanship.

Bison & Blade was born from that passion.

The name reflects two elements I deeply respect: leather and steel. Both are timeless. Both reward proper care. Both have served generations of hardworking people long before us and, when maintained correctly, can continue serving generations after us.

Today, I help clients care for the gear they rely on every day. Whether it's a favorite pair of cowboy boots, a well-worn hat, your horse’s saddle, a trusted everyday carry (EDC) knife, a custom leather project, or your family’s treasured hierloom, I approach each piece with the same philosophy:

If it's worth owning, it's worth maintaining.

I believe there is value in preserving quality. I believe craftsmanship still matters. And I believe we have become far too comfortable throwing things away that were built to last.

The Bison that represents this workshop wasn't chosen by accident. To me, it symbolizes resilience, endurance, self-reliance, and respect for the traditions that helped shape the American West. Those same values guide the work I do every day.

When you work with Bison & Blade, you're working directly with the owner. No call centers. No middlemen. No robots or A.I.. Just honest work, careful attention to detail, and a genuine respect for the items entrusted to my care.

Whether you're bringing me a brand-new piece of gear you'd like protected from day one, an old favorite that's earned a second chance, or your Grandparent’s hand me down - I'd be honored to help.

The workshop is open - Let's get to work!
