Blade Sharpening & Restoration

A Good Blade Should Work Like One.

Whether it lives in your pocket, kitchen, tackle box, hunting pack, or toolbox, a trusted blade should cut cleanly, safely, and reliably.

At Bison & Blade, sharpening is about more than making something “razor sharp.” The goal is to restore the right working edge for the way the blade is actually used while removing only the material necessary.

Old-fashioned in soul. Modern in execution

Professional & Premium Culinary Knives

$20–$30 per blade

For higher-performance culinary knives or blades requiring additional care, geometry consideration, or finishing work.

Each blade is assessed before sharpening.

Axes, Hatchets & Outdoor Tools

Single-edge tools: starting at $25
Double-edge tools: starting at $35

Axes, hatchets, machetes, camp tools, and other working edges vary considerably in size and condition, so larger or heavily damaged tools may require an individual quote.

More Than Sharpening

Sometimes an edge is only part of the problem.

Bison & Blade also accepts select knives for cleaning, maintenance, and preservation.

Deep Clean & Lubrication

Starting at $25

Depending on the knife and its construction, service may include:

  • Surface cleaning

  • Accessible component cleaning

  • Lubrication

  • Protective oil

  • General inspection

  • Sharpening when requested

Disassembly is performed only when appropriate for the knife and within the capabilities of the workshop.

Rust & Corrosion Treatment

Starting at $30

For blades showing active surface rust, oxidation, or neglect.

The goal is to stop deterioration while preserving as much original material and finish as practical.

Significant corrosion or restoration work is quoted after inspection.

Heirloom & Vintage Blade Care

Some blades are valuable for reasons that have nothing to do with their resale price.

A grandfather’s pocket knife. A family hunting knife. An old working blade that carries decades of use.

These pieces are approached differently.

The goal is usually not to make an old knife look brand new.

The goal is to: clean it carefully, stabilize deterioration, restore useful function when appropriate, and preserve the character it earned along the way.

For significant or sentimental pieces, I’ll discuss the proposed work with you before restoration begins.

What I Don’t Do

Bison & Blade focuses on sharpening, maintenance, cleaning, and select restoration.

Some services may need to go back to the manufacturer or a dedicated repair specialist, including:

  • Major structural repairs

  • Replacement blades or internal components

  • Warranty repairs

  • Significant handle reconstruction

  • Specialized factory work

If I believe your knife needs something outside my scope, I’ll tell you before touching it.

Serrated Blades

Some serrated edges can be serviced depending on their pattern, condition, and construction.

Send me a clear photo and I’ll let you know whether I can help.

Will Sharpening Remove a Lot of Steel?

No.

Good sharpening is controlled sharpening.

My goal is to restore the edge while removing only the material necessary to correct wear, dullness, or minor damage.

A working knife should have many sharpenings left in its life.

Have a Blade You’re Unsure About?

Send me: A clear photo of the full knife + a close-up of the edge + a short description of how you use it.

I’ll let you know what I recommend before work begins.
